Get involved in World Suicide Prevention Day

Join Roses in the Ocean for interactive and informative events in Brisbane and Hervey Bay on World Suicide Prevention Day, 10 September 2015.

Brisbane

Venue: Queen Street Mall (main stage area near entrance to Myer)

Time:  11:00am-3:00pm

At this event you can:

  • Participate in a number of activities and listen to some fantastic live music including X Factor finalists, James Johnston and Adil Memon, Australia's Got Talent Justin Geange and others!
  • Help complete incredible chalk art, make some Aboriginal jewellery and visit the teams from Headspace and Open Minds for some fun activities.
  • Complete your ‘wellbeing check’ and take home information about how you can make small but powerful changes to your day to day life that will improve your wellbeing and enhance your protective factors.
  • Pick up a rose and give it to someone you value and care about.
  • Talk with the Roses in the Ocean Lived Experience ambassadors.
  • Speak with service providers from the suicide prevention and mental health sectors.
  • Find useful, practical information about how to help prevent suicide and where to get help.

Participating organisations: Roses in the Ocean, Mates in Construction, Standby Response, Open Minds, Headspace, GLWA, QuaC, Bahloo Womens Youth Centre, Gallang Place, AISRAP, Talk Suicide.

Hervey Bay

Venue: Stocklands Shopping Centre

Time:  11:00am-3:00pm

At this event you can:

  • Find out about the assistance available in your community and take part in a range of activities throughout the event.
  • Complete your ‘wellbeing check’ and take home information about how you can make small but powerful changes to your day to day life that will improve your wellbeing and enhance your protective factors.
  • Pick up a rose and give it to someone you value and care about.
  • Speak with service providers from the suicide prevention and mental health sectors.
  • Find useful, practical information about how to help prevent suicide and where to get help. 

Participating organisations: Roses in the Ocean, Standby Response, Headspace, Neighbourhood Centre, Support of the Bereaved by Suicide, Lifeline.
