Janice Crosbie

During her journey of recovery, Janice has developed a deep understanding of the barriers and challenges that are faced when navigating through the mental health system and tertiary and education sectors.

Janice’s personal experience of living with a mental illness has led to her personal interest in helping to establish consumer operated services, volunteering with independent community-based organisations, and speaking on mental health issues and her experience of mental illness at various state and national events and as a guest lecturer at universities.

Reducing the impact of stigma and discrimination for people with mental illness and promoting the importance of housing and education to a person’s mental health stability hold a special interest for Janice. She has advocated for the service, social and health needs of people with mental illness or problems with substance use through speaking at a number of events and forums.
