Stigma & discrimination

Stigma and discrimination have a negative impact on mental health and wellbeing. Our research looks at effective ways to reduce stigma and discrimination for problematic alcohol and other drug use, suicide and mental illness.

Stigma and discrimination relates to prejudice, negative community attitudes, social exclusion and marginalisation, and abuse directed at Queenslanders living with mental health problems, mental illness, problematic alcohol and other drug use, and people affected by suicide.

By developing informed strategies we can work towards breaking down barriers, improving quality of life and supporting lives lived with purpose.
