Bretine Curtis is the Acting Queensland Mental Health Commissioner and an accomplished executive leader with more than 30 years' experience across the health, mental health, and human services sectors.
Throughout her career, Bretine has led large-scale system reform, organisational transformation, strategic policy development, and service delivery across government settings. She has held senior executive positions within the Queensland Mental Health Commission, Queensland Health, and the Department of Housing and Communities, with responsibility for statewide mental health, suicide prevention, alcohol and other drug, homelessness, and wellbeing initiatives.
Known for her collaborative and authentic leadership style, Bretine is a passionate advocate for creating the conditions and environments in which people can thrive and live their lives with meaning and purpose.
She has extensive experience partnering with government, service providers, and community organisations to shape policy, drive innovation, and deliver practical reforms that strengthen mental health and wellbeing systems across Queensland.
