Apply now: Mental Health and Drug Advisory Council

Applications are open for Queenslanders to provide expert advice and guidance on mental health and problematic substance use issues.

Applications for the Queensland Mental Health and Drug Advisory Council are open to people from a wide range of personal, professional and cultural backgrounds. People from diverse backgrounds including people with lived experience of mental illness and problematic substance use, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those living in regional areas were encouraged to apply.

The Council provides expert advice to the Queensland Mental Health Commission to drive reform towards a more integrated, evidence-based, recovery-orientated mental health and alcohol and other drug service system.

It plays an important role in seeking practical solutions that make a difference to people in the community.

Council members act as champions for people living with mental health and problematic substance use issues, as well as their families, carers and support people.

Council membership is by Ministerial appointment for up to three years, starting in 2016.
