Queensland welcomes first Chief Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Officer

Haylene Grogan started work as Queensland's Chief Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Officer in October, in a first for the state.

Ms Grogan leads Queensland Health's new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Division, which will deliver policies and programs to close the health gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

She has previously held senior roles in bodies including the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander  Health Equality Council, the Public Service Commissioner’s Indigenous Reference Group, and the Queensland Health Training Advisory Council to the Minister.
