13 Oct 2020

Tomorrow marks the mid-way of Queensland Mental Health Week. Have you taken time for your mental health yet? There are more than 270 events on, including many online options. Here’s a few that you can attend tomorrow. Find the full list here: https://www.qldmentalhealthweek.org.au/

Mackay Rainbow Pride: Community members and support organisations will come together with the local Greater Whitsundays Farmers Market to hold a mental health, suicide awareness and LGBTIQA+ pride event.

Windsor Group's Mental Health Symposium: Learn new ways for creating strategies and making valuable systemic changes to promote mentally healthy and thriving work environments. Get the latest updates from leading experts including our Commissioner Ivan Frkovic, Marion Wands (ConNetica Consulting), and Jorgen Gullestrup (Mates in Construction). Secure your ticket here.

Sausage Sizzle Biloela: Anglicare Biloela is hosting a sausage sizzle at the Lions park from 10am. The aim is to build the community’s awareness of Anglicare and its services as well as bring awareness to mental health and some fun activities used to manage mental health. There will be African drumming, which is a great mindfulness tool.

Burgers for Better Health Inala: Come gather around the BBQ for some burgers and sausages as Inala Youth Service chat about mental health and how it affects you. There will be music, activities, BBQ (of course) and the most important thing… safe conversations where staff from Inala Youth Service can listen and advocate for you. Open to ages 10-17. From 3pm at 79 Poinsettia Street, Inala. Visit Website

Twice Shot – Words for Wellbeing Launch Dalby: Join Western Downs Regional Council at the launch of Western Downs Libraries’ Words for Wellbeing collection and hear from special guest, Senior Sergeant Daryl Elliott Green. At 3.50am on 1 May 2000, in a dark Brisbane cul-de-sac, Daryl was ‘twice shot’ – once in the face and a second time in the shoulder. Hear the Queensland Police Service Valour Awardee and Lifeline Ambassador tell his inspiring story of strength, courage and resilience, exclusively at the Words for Wellbeing launch.

Western Downs Libraries Words for Wellbeing collection is a selection of books, DVDs, audiobooks and digital resources tackling topics that impact mental and physical wellbeing. You can find out more about these resources at westerndownslibraries.com/words-for-wellbeing/

The function is at Dalby Leagues Club, Orpen Street, Dalby at 10am. Visit website.
