Youth AOD grants

Current status: Applications open Monday 12 January 2026

We’re offering grants of up to $300,000  to support youth-led and community-driven alcohol and other drugs (AOD) initiatives across Queensland.

Up to $1.8 million in total funding is available to support actions under Achieving balance: The Queensland Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategic Plan 2022–2027.

The scope of this funding opportunity is broad, reflecting the diverse ways communities support young people to reduce AOD-related harm and improve health and wellbeing outcomes.

These grants aim to support evidence-informed initiatives that respond to local needs and actively involve young people aged 10–25 in shaping solutions.

Who can apply

The grant program is open to all community organisations, including those not specifically focused on alcohol and other drugs.

Eligible organisations may include:

  • non-government organisations
  • not-for-profit organisations
  • social enterprises
  • community-based groups such as sporting clubs or cultural associations
  • local charities

What we’re looking for

The Commission is seeking organisations with the experience, capability and skills to deliver initiatives that:

  • align with the objectives and guiding principles of the grant program
  • are youth-led or youth-informed, with meaningful involvement of young people in design and delivery
  • are community-driven and culturally safe
  • contribute to the evidence base for youth AOD prevention, early intervention or harm reduction
  • demonstrate potential for replication, scalability and sustainability beyond the grant period.

Priority will be given to initiatives that support early identification of vulnerability, targeted early intervention, and improved outcomes for young people at greater risk, including those involved with youth justice or out-of-home care.

How does this support reform?

This funding opportunity supports the Queensland Government’s commitment to reducing AOD-related harm and improving outcomes for children and young people under Achieving balance.

The grants aim to strengthen community-driven responses, promote collaboration across sectors and support young people to play an active role in shaping evidence-based prevention and early intervention initiatives in their communities.
