LGBTI mental health workshops

13 Jan 2014

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) have significantly poorer mental health outcomes and experience higher rates of suicide than their heterosexual peers.

However, many services are unaware of their LGBTI clients, and support staff can often feel uncomfortable or uncertain about how to best support someone around their sexuality or gender identity. Additionally, LGBIT people often don’t have access to adequate information about how to support their own mental health.

To assist, MindOUT! is providing workshops across Queensland for mental health professionals and LGBTI community members on supporting good mental health and suicide prevention.
