QMHW Community events grants

Queensland communities can apply for $85,000 in grant funding to help spread awareness and contribute to improved mental health and wellbeing in their local community.

The new grant program supports communities across the State to host community mental health awareness events and activities for Queensland Mental Health Week.

The grant program is funded by the Queensland Mental Health Commission and managed by the Commission’s partner, the Queensland Alliance for Mental Health (QAMH).

About QMHW

Queensland Mental Health Week raises awareness of mental health and wellbeing among Queenslanders during the week of 8–14 October 2017 through a range of events and activities.

The theme for 2017 is value mental health.

Locally-driven community events and activities help promote mental health and wellbeing, create understanding of mental illness, and celebrate the lives of people living with mental illness.

The grant program

The grant program is offering grants up to $2,500 to local organisations to cover or contribute to costs for events and activities. This could include venue hire, merchandise, printing or photocopying, refreshments or engaging a mental health specialist.

Local community activities provide a focal point for awareness, education and understanding, and help foster community connection and inclusion for those living with mental illness, their families, carers and support people.

How to apply

Organisations interested in applying for a grant must email a completed Grant Application Form and supporting documents to projects@qamh.org.au by 5.00pm Friday, 1 September 2017.

Download the grant guidelines and application form.

We recommend that organisations review the Queensland Government Best practice guidelines for event delivery in Queensland and the Queensland Mental Health Week Event organiser kit for event ideas and advice on event management.

Events must be registered on the QMHW website, which also includes a range of event ideas, information and resources.

Grant applications close at 5.00pm on Friday, 1 September 2017.

Successful applicants will be announced mid-September.
