Preventing and reducing the impact of mental illness

Mental illness is common.  Around one in five Queenslanders experiencing a mental illness in any one year and one in two will experience a mental illness at some point in their lives.

Some mental illnesses are preventable. And with the right support, at the right time as close to home as possible, people living with a mental illness can recover and lead fulfilling lives.

Our role is to promote strategies and initiatives which support prevention, early intervention and recovery.

This includes a focus on reducing stigma and discrimination, improving social inclusion, protecting human rights and supporting the engagement of people with a lived experience, their families, carers and support people.
